The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an interaction between a Westfall High School teacher and a student that allegedly occurred Nov. 18.

Detective Britt Ramey confirmed the outline of a report filed Nov. 30 and said authorities are still interviewing people. However, he added that the two people involved indicated nothing untoward occurred.

A sheriff’s representative was contacted by Principal Billy Dennis of a possible relationship between a male teacher and female student. Dennis said the teacher was placed on administrative leave until further notice, the report reflected.

The Westfall Local School District issued this statement Thursday: “We will always take any allegations that could involve our students very seriously. Presently, there is a matter that is being investigated by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s [Office.] We have no further comments, so as not to interfere with their investigation.

Dennis provided authorities with a typed statement of an investigation he conducted of the relationship between the student and teacher. The Pickaway Press is not revealing the names or any other describers of the teacher or student because no charges have been filed and the student is a juvenile.

According to the sheriff’s office report, Dennis articulated that:

A video shows the student entering the teacher’s classroom around 3 p.m., with the teacher following behind her and then checking the doorknob. The door remained closed until 4:10 p.m. when two female basketball players came to the room and discovered the door locked. The pair knocked on the door that was opened about 45 seconds later.

The student, according to the sheriff’s report, told Dennis that she went to the classroom to review basketball film, adding that she took a nap after the film wouldn’t load. The principal told her that he would have to alert her parents of the incident.

The teacher also said the purpose of the visit was to review film and insisted that nothing happened. He also admitted that the situation looked bad.
